“The Last of Us” Stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey Reunite at AFI Awards Luncheon

Pascal has spoken highly of his close bond with Ramsey in the past, saying that the actress "brought out the best of me" when they filmed the Max series together

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are together again — minus the zombies.

The Last of Us stars appear to have taken their strong bond from the screen to real life as they shared a sweet moment during their reunion at the AFI Awards Luncheon on Friday.

Pascal, 48, wore dark purple pants with a matching loose-fitting top as he posed for a photo with Ramsey, 20, who sported a black suit with a matching black shirt underneath. In the snap, the pair appeared to have been in the middle of a hug as The Mandalorian actor wrapped an arm around her shoulder and Ramsey leaned in.

The two shared other adorable moments on the red carpet. At one point, the actors were spotted chatting about something as they looked at each other while taking photos. In another moment, Pascal was captured giving Ramsey a kiss on the forehead as she smiled widely.

Since The Last of Us premiered last year, the costars have shared glimpses of their friendship. At a "For Your Consideration" event in Los Angeles in May, the duo had a touching moment when Pascal explained his signature pose to the young actress with his hand resting on his stomach.

"You know why?" he told Ramsey. "My anxiety is right here."

Ramsey then appeared to copy the pose in follow-up photos, proudly putting her hand over her stomach in a similar way.

The Wonder Woman 1984 actor has also spoken highly of Ramsey in the past, telling Steven Yeun on Variety’s Actors on Actors that it had been “scary” to know that he was “going into an experience that was 12 months away from home — with a teenager” when he began filming The Last of Us. But he said that the fear quickly went away as he worked with her and could tell that the young actress was “cool.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a more anchoring, generous, thoughtful teenager. And I don’t mean to say that in a patronizing way,” he shared. “I relied on Bella for so much of the experience. We were both scared and shy about that, but Bella just inspired me to be mature about it.”

“I really don’t think I’ve met anybody like Bella,” Pascal continued. “They brought the best out of me as a person.”

Ramsey told GameRant.com that her relationship with Pascal was actually a “nice parallel” to Ellie’s relationship with Joel on the hit Max show (the two develop a closeness while trying to survive a zombie apocalypse). She explained that she and Pascal didn’t even get a chance to meet before they began filming the series.

“We were very much just thrown in,” she recalled. “And that chemistry was just there immediately and just grew and developed as Joel and Ellie's did. As their relationship developed so did ours.”
