Lenny Kravitz's Comments About His Celibacy May Have Put Rumors About His A-List Romance To Bed

Lenny Kravitz may have just inadvertently shut down dating rumors after confirming his single status and opening up about his celibacy journey in a recent interview with The Guardian.
Kravitz spoke candidly to the publication in an interview published on Thursday, May 30, revealing that he hasn’t been in a serious relationship for nine years and is still committed to his celibacy journey. This comes after sources recently claimed he was romancing Mariah Carey.

“Yes. It’s a spiritual thing,” the singer told The Guardian, admitting that while he would love to be in a relationship, that might be difficult. “I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live.”
While Kravitz didn’t explicitly state that he has been celibate for the past nine years, he previously revealed that he was abstaining from sex until he remarried back in 2008. “[It’s] just a promise I made until I get married,” Kravitz told Maxim, via Digital Spy, at the time, revealing that he had been abstaining from sex since 2005 at that point. “Where I’m at in life, the women have got to come with something else, not just the body, but the mind and spirit.”
Kravitz’s confirmation that he is single may shut down claims recently made by DeuxMoi and Life and Style that he and Carey are dating. Though, we’re holding out hope that they are just not serious enough for Kravitz to declare that he is taken!
In an April episode of the DeuxMoi podcast, the host claimed that her sources had told her that Kravitz and the “Fantasy” singer started dating towards the end of 2023, shortly after Carey split from her longtime partner Bryan Tanaka. A month later, a source made a similar claim to Life and Style, alleging that the duo, who co-starred in the 2009 movie Precious have “been hanging out a lot lately.”
Elsewhere in his interview with The Guardian, Kravitz opened up about infidelity. As he wrote in his 2020 memoir, Kravitz once discovered that his father, NBC new producer, was cheating on his mother, The Jeffersons actress Roxie Roker. His father told him he, too, would cheat someday.
“He became right,” Kravitz, who was married to actress Lisa Bonet from 1987 until 1993, told The Guardian. “After the marriage, I became more like him. I was becoming a player.”
“I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to be that guy. So I had to tackle that and it took years,” he said, adding that he tackled it, “by taking responsibility. Discipline. Not letting my own desires take over.”
