Leonardo DiCaprio calls Greta Thunberg ‘a leader of our time’ in new Instagram post

Teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg has finally made her way to California. And already, she’s joined forces with Hollywood’s best-known environmentalist, Leonardo DiCaprio.

The 44-year-old actor took to his Instagram on Friday to post a couple of photos of himself and the 16-year-old girl from Sweden, who has already become a force to reckon in the United States after just arriving here in September. In the post, DiCaprio wrote, “@GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time.”

”History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same livable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted,” he continued. “I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over. It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds.”

DiCaprio went onto explain that he and the young activist would be ensuring that they both help to achieve their goals of “securing a brighter future” by committing to support one another.

The photo received some push back from commenters, who wrote, “Oh look 2 actors...” and “I’m disappointed.”

However, many others responded positively to DiCaprio’s backing of Thunberg and called them the “dream team” and “a couple of earth angels.”

“When two of the most important voices in this decade’s biggest global crisis come together, you know progress will be made, as so many are listening,” another commented.
