Lil Nas X Gifts Latto A Rose Bouquet After “Sunday Service” Name-Drop

Latto shared a loving gift she received from Lil Nas X after name-dropping the “Old Town Road” performer in her latest track. On Thursday (Feb. 15), the Grammy-nominated rapper shared a bouquet of red roses sent in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The message attributed to Lil Nas X on the tag references Latto’s mention of the chart-topper in her song “Sunday Service.” In the upbeat song, the 25-year-old artist rhymes, “He can’t tell if it’s authentic or it’s surgery/ Lil Nas X is the only ni**a curving me,” as Lil Nas X is openly gay.

“I would never curve you, Happy Valentine’s Day, Lil Nas X,” responded the 24-year-old with the floral arrangement.

Released earlier this month, “Sunday Service” features various female rappers in the cover art, including her rumored opposition Ice Spice. Other artists pictured include Coi Leray, Lil Kim, Sexyy Red, and Megan Thee Stallion. Each woman, and Latto herself appear with black rectangles covering their eyes.

“I didn’t say the song was no homage song — didn’t nobody say that,” explained the Atlanta representative per The Shade Room. “Y’all just be jumping to conclusions, then be mad at me.”

She continued to elaborate, “I never said that song was paying homage in the song. Blogs said, ‘Latto’s new track dah dah dah,’ I’m reading this sh*t like, ‘Who the f**k said that?’” adding, “Y’all need to be mad at y’all self for believing your own assumptions.”

Despite not being a song created in adoration of her predecessors and peers, the music video, directed by Hidji World and Latto herself references the 1998 film Belly, as well as Missy Elliot’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” music video. Take a look below.
