Longtime ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Alex Trebek Memorialized On U.S. Postal Service Forever Stamp

Clue: This naturalized U.S. citizen who hosted Jeopardy! for 37 seasons is now being honored with a U.S. Postal Service Forever Stamp.

The longtime Jeopardy! host who died in 2020 is being remembered with the stamp that officially goes on sale Monday, July 22, but is available for pre-order today on the USPS website. The stamp’s release coincides with the show’s 60th Diamond Celebration, which began this year.

The sheet of 20 identical stamps features the display of video monitors on the Jeopardy! game board alongside a photo of Trebek as host. Written on each stamp is the clue: “This naturalized U.S. citizen hosted the quiz show “Jeopardy!” for 37 seasons.’ Underneath, written upside down, is the response: “Who is Alex Trebek?”

Current Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings announced the stamps during Friday’s episode of the game show.

Trebek died on November 8, 2020, at 80 following a long and public battle against Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Trebek hosted more than 8,200 Jeopardy! episodes, beginning in 1984, setting a Guinness World Record for hosting the most episodes of a single game show. He won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host seven times and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He received the Order of Canada honor from his native land in 2017.
