Luann de Lesseps Predicts Money Loss for RHONJ Cast After Canceled Reunion

Luann de Lesseps is talking about the bottom line. When an insider revealed that Real Housewives of New Jersey would not be having a traditional reunion earlier this month, it made an impact on viewers.

Of course, one could make the argument that the RHONJ cast was on such a trajectory. At the Season 13 reunion, the main cast members decided not to speak to each other. And it continues into Season 14 as Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga don’t interact on camera.

So how will Bravo wrap up the season? And how will the decision about the reunion affect the ladies of RHONJ financially?

Luann is “really surprised” that the RHONJ reunion was canceled

The Real Housewives of New York veteran star gave an interview on the Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef podcast. During the conversation on June 16, 2024, the RHONY alum was asked to react to Bravo’s decision to cancel RHONJ’s reunion this season.

“Well, you know I guess there was some sort of a reason that it didn’t happen. And I don’t know,” Luann said. “I mean it never happened in the past so this is all new. I mean, I’m surprised. I’m really surprised. I mean I haven’t been watching Jersey so I don’t know what’s going on, but it must be pretty heavy.“

Luann doesn’t think certain things should be discussed at a reunion “if it’s that dark”

Indeed, the dynamic between Teresa, her sister-in-law, and Joe Gorga, is at an all-time low. But Luann feels it’s important for viewers to see the cast interaction at reunions.

“I think people like to see a different perspective, you know. The reunion…you get to see what somebody really thinks about what happened, et cetera,” she explained.  “But, you know, sometimes it’s better not to rehash, stuff if it’s that dark.”

However, the issue of money is paramount. A source told Us Weekly that Real Housewives waits until after filming the reunion to get paid half of the monies owed for the season.

“I don’t know, but you know it’s a chunk of change that they’re gonna miss,” Luann said of the impact.

Perhaps the fact that Bravo pulled the plug will change matters. They may, or have to, be inclined to oblige on the payment.
