Mama June Questions Anna's Choice to 'Push' Custody Onto Eldridge Before Her Death: 'What If He Doesn't?' (Exclusive)

"I want him to want it so much that he can't stand it," Anna says of her husband Eldridge taking custody of her daughter Kaitlyn

As Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell's cancer gets more and more serious, her mother Mama June Shannon is urging her to declare which family member will get custody of her daughter, Kaitlyn.

In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at Friday's episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, Mama June confronts her daughter about putting together a document that dictates who will take guardianship of Kaitlyn once she passes away.

"We don't have any say so over Kylee, we know that. I feel like the moment you take your last breath her dad, Michael, is going to be in the front yard, pulling her out of this house," she says, explaining the likely possibility of Anna's daughters being separated. "Would that suck for everybody involved? It most certainly will, but then we also have the situation with Kaitlyn."

While speaking with cameras, Anna acknowledges the reality of what will happen following her death and sighs, "I know what she's talking about. She wants me to try to get a will tother, try to figure it with the girls, what I want to do with Kaitlyn."

"I'm still here," she continues, "I still have plenty of time, so just chill!"

Mama June questions Anna's decision to put off declaring her custody plans and asks her daughter if her reluctance to write a will stems from something deeper. When she wonders if she's felt "scared" to let go custody or "having second thoughts" about it, Anna interrupts and shares who she wants her daughter to go to.

"I want Kaitlyn to go to Eldridge [her husband]," she declares to Mama June's shock.

"I am surprised that she wants Eldridge on the paperwork," the Shannon family matriarch tells cameras. "Kaitlyn will be better off with me, because there is stability. But Eldridge has been in Kaitlyn's life since she was around five years old. Honestly, she needs to put this s--- on paper."

Despite her mother's doubts, Anna claims that she know Eldridge "can do it" and adds, "I've just got to push him."

"I want him to want it so much that he can't stand it," she continues and shakes her fists before Mama June quietly asks, "What happens if he doesn't?"

In December 2023, Mama June announced that Anna had died from stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in a post shared to Instagram.

"With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us," she began the caption of her post alongside a family photograph. "She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM."

"She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today," Mama June continued.
