MC Messiah organizer Daniel McNabb announces his final performance singing 'The Messiah'

MICHIGAN CITY — Michigan City Messiah performs George Frideric Handel’s “The Messiah” at 7 p.m. CST Dec. 16 and 3 p.m. CST Dec. 17 at the Holdcraft Performing Arts Center, 1200 Spring St.

“The Messiah” premiered in Dublin, Ireland, on April 13, 1742, and is the source of the “Hallelujah Chorus.”

The concerts feature a full Baroque orchestra conducted by Philip J. Bauman and soloists Kimberly Jones, soprano; Kristen Gornstein, mezzo-soprano; Matthew Daniel, tenor; and Bill McMurray, bass-baritone.

This is the 59th presentation of “The Messiah,” first organized and conducted by Daniel J. McNabb, who still sings in the chorus and who has announced that this will be his final year singing “The Messiah.”
