Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly reached out to Kate Middleton ahead of her return to public engagements despite not seeing her since her cancer diagnosis.

According to reports, the couple has been monitoring Kate's recovery and attempted to reconnect, though their communication with the palace remains limited.

During his recent trips to the UK, Harry didn't meet with Prince William or Kate, and Meghan has ghosted the country since attending the late Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

Despite challenges, Prince Harry is reportedly searching for a permanent UK home amid plans to split time between the UK and the US.

Harry and Meghan reportedly reached out to the Princess of Wales before her return to the public eye at the recent Trooping the Colour ceremony, despite not having seen her since her cancer diagnosis.

According to Closer magazine, a source shared that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made efforts to reconnect with Kate and "have been following Kate's recovery with huge interest, but sadly it's [hard] to be more from afar because their lines of communication with the palace and the Waleses, in particular, are very limited, to say the least."

"They have had enough information to know that people are excited about the idea of a comeback for Kate, and they're both relieved and happy to hear that she's on the mend and may soon be well enough to return to her duties," the insider continued.

"They've jointly reached out to send well wishes, but they're still not really in a place with Kate to warrant much of a response," the source noted, adding that this "hasn't stopped them from trying to connect."

The insider further stated that Harry and Meghan hope Kate's return might ease some tensions.

"When Kate gets back into action, their hope is that it might take some of the heat off them and possibly trigger a truce with her and William and with the King, too," they said.

The source further claimed that Meghan wants to be the bigger person and end the feud between her family and the Waleses.

"Meghan's desperate to come across as the bigger person and end this feud between them — appearing like some sort of royal savior could only do her image good," the source told Closer.

They continued, "And, despite all their bad blood, her heart does go out to Kate — she can only imagine how hard this situation must be for her."

"Meghan has made it clear she'd love nothing more than to move past all the nonsense and find a way towards healing for everyone's sake. She's ready to let the anger and bitterness go," the insider added.

The Duchess of Sussex allegedly "hopes her feelings are being communicated to Kate through their mutual friends."

"There's no doubt making peace with William and Kate would be a huge relief for Meghan on many levels, not least because it would also improve her reputation and, in turn, the new brand she's cultivating," the insider said.

Amid rumors of a potential reconciliation, former royal butler Grant Harrold told the New York Post that he believes it's "too late" for the Waleses and the Sussexes to fix their broken relationship.

"I've always thought that Harry would have wanted to reach out to his family, whether it's too late for that I don't know," he said.

"Maybe there's too much water under the bridge now. A lot of time has passed, and trust has been broken. Can that be repaired? Time will tell," Harrold continued.

"Actions speak louder than words," the former royal butler noted.

Both Harry and Meghan notably sent Kate their well-wishes after she made her cancer announcement in March.

Harry is reportedly considering purchasing a UK property to have a place to stay during visits to London.

Harrold told the news outlet that Harry's rumored home search in the UK was motivated by his realization that "he's only got one family."

The royal expert suggested that the couple is looking to revert to their "original idea" of splitting their time between the UK and the US.

After their eviction from Frogmore Cottage in June 2023, Harry and Meghan have not had a permanent residence in the UK. The couple currently lives in their $14 million Montecito, California, mansion with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

While Harry has visited the UK twice this year, he hasn't reunited with his brother, Prince William, or his sister-in-law, Kate.

In February, the Duke of Sussex only saw his father, King Charles III, and did not meet any family members during his three-day trip to London in May.

There were reports at the time that Harry would at least have a meeting with the King during his last visit, but it was later confirmed that the monarch was "too busy" to see his son.

Meanwhile, Meghan did not accompany Harry on either visit. Instead, the Duchess of Sussex joined Harry at Heathrow Airport before they flew to Nigeria together.
