MGM Restructures Worldwide Television Distribution Team, Paul Bischoff Promoted to EVP

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) is set to restructure its Worldwide Television Distribution team. Chris Ottinger, President, Worldwide Television Distribution & Acquisitions, MGM, made the announcement today. The restructuring will help with greater efficiency across its business operations.

The reorganization includes a promotion of Paul Bischoff to Executive Vice President, International Television Distribution-EMEA, where he will be responsible for all television and digital distribution in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Prior to his new position, Bischoff served as Senior Vice President, Subscription Television & Sales Strategy and led MGM’s SVOD and pay television deals in all international markets while managing relationships with key clients including Netflix, Amazon, Sky Italia, Sky Deutschland, BskyB, Canal+, Foxtel, LAPTV, and Telecine. Bischoff will be based out of LA and report directly to Ottinger.

At MGM’s London office, Charlie Farmer will take the position of Senior Vice President and Managing Director, UK, China and European Co-Productions. He will be responsible for television and digital distribution in the UK and China while also being charged with seeking new scripted dramas and production partnerships reporting to Steve Stark, MGM’s President, Television Production & Development.

Also London-based, Alex Peschak has been upped to Senior Vice President, International Television Distribution, EMEA. He will manage the London sales team as well as oversee all television and digital distribution across EMEA excluding the U.K. He will report to Bischoff.

“This is an exciting time for MGM. Paul has been an integral member of the team responsible for building and implementing MGM’s international strategy and is the right person to lead our EMEA business,” said Ottinger. He added, “Charlie and Alex have unparalleled relationships and I am excited to see each of them in enhanced roles within our organization.”

“Charlie Farmer offers a wealth of knowledge about the European media community and will be invaluable in helping us expand our television production business into the European marketplace,” said Stark.

The new shift at MGM Television comes at a time when they are growing with the recent acquisition of EPIX and Evolution Media. They are also on top of their game in terms of critically acclaimed TV. Earlier this year they nabbed 11 Emmys for The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu), Fargo (FX), Shark Tank (ABC), and The Voice (NBC). Other series on their slate are EPIX’s Get Shorty and Lucha Underground at El Rey. In 2018, they will release The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair on EPIX starring Patrick Dempsey as well as Condor on the AT&T Audience Network based on the film Three Days of the Condor.
