Miley Cyrus is throwing it back to the '80s with her latest look. The musician channeled the eternal fashion icon Grace Jones with a hooded Alaïa bodysuit and pencil skirt that had fans flooding her Instagram comments with one word: "Mother."

"Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's Alaïa. In this case… it's both," Miley Cyrus captioned her photos. In the black and white pics, she poses in a sleeveless black hooded bodysuit by the legendary fashion designer. Over the suit, she wears a skintight shiny black latex pencil skirt. Under the skirt, Cyrus wore a pair of black leggings with stirrup pants tucked into the brand's Shark Pumps, also in black. Cyrus styled the ensemble with a simple pair of black sunglasses and a hat tucked under the hood; an outfit like this is a statement all its own!

Musician and model Grace Jones frequently wore Alaïa in the '80s, especially the designer's hooded dresses. The look has been referenced again and again in modern fashion, with stars like Lady Gaga, Bella Hadid, and Cyrus paying homage to Alaïa's instantly recognizable silhouette and Jones's signature sleek style via similar looks.

Cyrus's look is the perfect example of Alaïa's timelessness; this look, which was seen on the runway at the brand's spring-summer 2024 show, could just as easily have been worn by Jones in the 1980s. Given that Cyrus loves to pay homage to both music and fashion icons via her hair, makeup, and outfits and often incorporates specific elements of the '70s and '80s into her looks, this head-to-toe Alaïa moment makes perfect sense. New era incoming? Maybe!
