Movies, music festivals planned for downtown Cuyahoga Falls this summer

Concerts, movies, cultural events and firefighter competitions are among the activities planned in downtown Cuyahoga Falls this summer.

"We are proud to welcome residents and visitors back to downtown Cuyahoga Falls for another wonderful season of family-friendly fun," said Mayor Don Walters.

Falls Fire Showdown

The season will kick off on Friday, June 7, with the 3rd Annual Falls Fire Showdown Smoke on the Water competition. Watch teams of firefighters from around the region compete in a relay challenge to determine who is the best of the best. The event starts at 5 p.m. with the showdown at 6 p.m. followed at 8 p.m. by Cleveland's Breakfast Club playing favorites from the 80s and 90s.

Falls Downtown Fridays

Falls Downtown Fridays events return on July 5 and Aug. 2 from 6 to 10 p.m. The series is presented by the city of Cuyahoga Falls, Western Reserve Hospital, and Alro Steel, with radio partner 91.3 The Summit and sound partner Clear Gold Audio and Lighting.

The Michael Weber Show will headline the July 5 event with opener the Lees Brothers.

Carlos Jones and the PLUS Band will close out the Falls Downtown Fridays season with opener The Taylor Lamborn Band.

Flix on the Falls

Flix on the Falls moves to Fridays with expanded family-friendly activities before each movie. Activities start at 6:30 p.m., and movies begin at dark.

Movies and activities include:

  • June 21 – Wonka - activities include a magician, bubble show, food trucks, and inflatables

  • June 28 – Back to the Future – activities include COSI LIVE, activities, games, food trucks, and inflatables

  • July 12 – Rio – activities include live music, dancers, mobile zoo, food trucks, and inflatables

  • July 26 – The Sound of Music – activities include live music, photo ops, and food trucks

Fountain Stage and Paddle Park

New this year are stages at Paddle Park, located at Portage Trail and Front Street, and the Fountain Stage, at Stow Avenue and Front Street.

Fountain Stage, sponsored by Western Reserve Hospital, and Paddle Park will be programmed from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the following Fridays:

  • July 12

  • July 26

  • Aug. 2

Army Band and Fireworks

The Ohio Army 122nd National Guard Band will play at the Downtown Amphitheater on Tuesday, June 25. The event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. and include children’s activities, food trucks, and fireworks.

Illuminate

On Saturday, July 13, the Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Partnership will present Illuminate, an event highlighting culturally diverse and authentic food, live entertainment, artists, and local vendors.

Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck Pull

The Fourth Annual Cuyahoga Falls Fire Truck Pull is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. Registration will open in late June at cityofcf.com

National Night Out

The Cuyahoga Falls police department and the Parks and Recreation Department will team up on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Summit DD Parking Lot for an evening of fun, K-9 demonstrations, activities, food, and touch-a-truck with safety vehicles.
