Sep. 23—ANDERSON — Brian Regan has been a guest on Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," recently released a Netflix special "On the Rocks," and will perform at the Paramount Theatre on Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Audiences who've seen him on television or other media should not expect to hear the same old jokes. Regan said he likes to keep his material fresh.

He not only works to keep his material fresh, but clean. Regan said this has more to do with the workings of his brain than his ethical beliefs.

He enjoys the challenge of seeing how long he can hold the audience's attention without being dirty.

"I enjoy seeing how much mileage I can get without hitting certain buzzwords of certain topics," he said.

Nevertheless, he enjoys and respects fellow comedians, even those who work dirty.

"Brian Regan is bloody marvelous and he's one of those comedians who've worked incredibly hard on the road building an enormous following," said Greg Proops, a friend and fellow comedian.

In recent appearance on the "Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon," Regan had audiences in stitches about his obsessive compulsive disorder tendencies.

Regan said he does not claim to have OCD — his "symptoms" are self-diagnosed. He acknowledged OCD can be a debilitating disorder for some and did not want to make light of the real condition.

"I just know because of how meticulous I am and how uncomfortable I am when things are not in set order, I believed that I might be on the spectrum," he said.

"I try not to make light of it, except in my own case."

Having cemented preferences and being organized he believes serves him and by default, his audience, well — he keeps track of every detail of each bit.

Regan said he's never been to Anderson or the Paramount and is looking forward to performing. He will also be performing at the Long Center in Lafayette on Oct. 5.
