Nick Carter has obtained a restraining order against his younger brother Aaron, claiming he had threatened to kill his wife and unborn child.

The Backstreet Boys star – whose fitness instructor wife Lauren Kitt is expecting their second child next month – claims 31-year-old former child star Aaron is mentally unwell and has left them fearing for their safety.

Nick, 39, tweeted: “I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron.

“In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behaviour and his recent confession that he harbours thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.

Aaron has hit back at the restraining order – which orders him not to come within 100 feet of his older brother – claiming he hadn’t seen Nick for four years.

He tweeted: “So my brother just got a a restraining order against me. And I was just served.

“Take care @nickcarter we’re done for life.

“I haven’t seen him in four years. And I don’t intend.

“Restraining order says stay 100 feet away. It’s been thousands of miles for years.”

The ‘Crush on You’ singer – who has admitted to an ongoing battle with drug addiction – also shared text messages dated September 17th which he claims to be between himself, Nick and Lauren.

One message appears to be from Aaron apologising to Lauren, and another from Nick to Aaron thanking him for reaching out to his wife.

Aaron recently appeared on the US show The Doctors, where he was diagnosed with anxiety, schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder and manic depression.

But he later denied having any mental health issues and claimed the show had been edited to make it look like he did. Producers of the show said it had not been edited.

Aaron has recently been flaunting his gun collection on social media. He claims to own a 9mm handgun and two assault rifles, among other firearms.

Officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department recently visited Aaron in California to check on his welfare and he claims they returned at the weekend and tried to place him under involuntary psychiatric care.
