North Jersey bar selected by country star Zach Bryan as one of 23 to preview new album

A Montclair bar is set to play unreleased music from country star Zach Bryan — and may even get a visit from the singer himself — prior to his new album next month.

Irish gastropub Egan & Sons was identified by Bryan on his Instagram page as one of 23 bars in the United States and Canada "that embody the spirit of American culture." Starting Monday, each establishment will get a 10-day sneak preview of Bryan's album "The Great American Bar Scene" before its release, fittingly, on July 4.

"My intent with all this is to give everyone an early glimpse of this album," Bryan said, "but more importantly this is in the spirit of bringing people together for a memorable moment."

The full bar list announced Thursday includes one other New Jersey location: Barnacle Bill's in Rumson. The eateries are spread across 15 states, including four in Bryan's native Oklahoma, along with one in Toronto, Canada.

"As much as I'd kill to play all these timeless bars, it won't be possible," Bryan wrote. However, he added, "I will be visiting a few off the list to have a drink with ya'll."

Egan & Sons shared the news on its own Instagram post and urged residents to stay tuned for updates on the album reveal. The pub clarified that the event is not a concert, but rather a preview of "The Great American Bar Scene."

In another post Friday afternoon, Egan & Sons said its plan is to divide the album into sections and play tracks at regular intervals throughout each night beginning Monday. At the end of the week, either Thursday or Friday weather permitting, the restaurant will host an outdoor listening party and play the full album "as many times as people want to hear it."

The pub will also have a limited amount of Bryan merchandise to distribute to patrons during the week. It is unknown whether the singer will make an appearance, the post stated, but "while we're not making any promises, our fingers are just as crossed as yours."

Bryan, 28, has already released one song called "Pink Skies" off the upcoming album, the fifth in his discography.

The singer has already been recognized with several accolades in his young career. He received the Academy of Country Music Award for New Male Artist of the Year in 2023 and this year's Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the song "I Remember Everything" featuring Kacey Musgraves.
