South Korean actor and 2PM’s singer, Ok Taecyeon, has bagged a prominent role in a Japanese film, La Grande Maison Paris. He will share screen space with popular Japanese actors, including Takuya Kimura, Kyoka Suzuki, Ikki Sawamura, and Mitsuhiro Oikawa.
The Vincenzo actor’s entertainment agency, 51K, confirmed the news on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The announcement stated, “Ok Taecyeon will star in the Japanese film ‘La Grand Maison Paris.’ Please show lots of interest and anticipation.”
La Grande Maison Paris is adapted from the classic Japanese series, La Grande Maison Tokyo. The movie will revolve around the lives of chefs Obana Natsuki (Kimura Takuya) and Hayami Rinko (Suzuki Kyoka).
2PM’s Ok Taecyeon to play a chef’s role in Japanese film La Grande Maison Paris
Boy band 2PM’s Ok Taecyeon will play the role of a Korean-Canadian pastry chef, Rick Yuan. The character will lock horns with Obana Natsuki in the movie. Taecyeon will showcase his ability to speak three languages — Korean, French, and Japanese.
According to Sports Chosun, the star shed light on his role and shared his experience. He said (originally in Korean), “I was very excited to be able to appear in a project with Kimura Takuya, whom I admire, and it was an honor to be able to be a part of a great project. Through this experience of working with staff from various countries while going back and forth between Japan and Paris, I got a lot of positive motivation, and I also gained confidence that I can take on new challenges at any time if I can immerse myself in the character well.”
In La Grande Maison Paris, Obana Natsuki and Hayami Rinko opened their restaurant branch in Paris. As per the drama’s storyline, the two genius chefs have already earned three Michelin stars in Japan. Now, they want to achieve the same dream and become the first Asians to do so in Paris.
2PM’s Taecyeon’s upcoming movie will likely premiere in Japan this winter.
