‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 4: Get a cute first look at a familiar-but-different new trio

Do you feel like you’re seeing double?

Hulu has released a behind-the-scenes photo of “Only Murders in the Building” Season 4, featuring series stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short alongside special guest stars Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis — the actors who will be playing Mabel, Charles, and Oliver in the movie based on the trio’s podcast. And to be clear, they’re playing themselves. (“OMITB” has always featured celebrity guest stars; Sting, Amy Schumer, Matthew Broderick, and Mel Brooks are among some of the celebrities who have stopped by to play exaggerated versions of themselves.)

Season 4 of Hulu’s hit mystery comedy is bi-coastal, set between New York and Los Angeles, and will follow the podcasting trio as they try to solve the murder of Charles’ stunt double Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) — which may have been an attempt on Charles. Their investigation takes them to Hollywood, where a film studio is working on an adaptation of the podcast. 

Other new cast members in Season 4 include Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Desmin Borges, Richard Kind, and Melissa McCarthy. Returning cast members include Michael Cyril Creighton, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Lynch. 

Season 3, which premiered on Hulu last summer, is likely to earn Emmy nominations for Best Comedy Series, lead performers Martin, Short, and Gomez, Supporting Actress for Streep, Supporting Actor for Paul Rudd, and Best Original Music and Lyrics for the song “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” It has previously won two Emmys for production design and one for sound mixing, and Guest Actor in a Comedy for Nathan Lane.

The series is created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman. 

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 4 premieres August 27 on Hulu. Episodes will be released weekly.
