Peacock has a forthcoming limited series that will educate viewers on how Atlanta became “The Black Mecca.” This week, the popular streaming platform shared a teaser for Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist starring Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, and more.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, based on the acclaimed iHeart true-crime podcast, follows the infamous story of how an armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life but ultimately transformed Atlanta into the ‘Black Mecca,'” the synopsis says. “When a hustler named Chicken Man (Kevin Hart) hosts an afterparty to celebrate the fight with a guest list of the country’s wealthiest, the night ends with the most brazen criminal underworld heist in Atlanta’s history.”

Hart’s character is suspected of being behind the heist and will have to try and clear his name. The challenge won’t be easy as his old foe J.D. Hudson, played by Don Cheadle, has recently become the first Black detective after the city’s law enforcement was desegregated and is leading the charge in bringing the culprits to justice.

The teaser shows characters partying, drinking, and gambling before transitioning to a scene of robbers entering a venue and a voice yelling, “Everybody get on the ground!” The final scene is police entering that same venue to conduct an investigation. “This whole city’s about to be a crime scene,” another voice says.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist will feature a star-studded cast outside of Kevin Hart and Don Cheadle. Taraji P. Henson plays Vivian Thomas, Terrence Howard plays Cadillac Richie, Samuel L. Jackson plays Frank Moten, and Chloe Bailey plays Lena Mosley. The series will be available to stream via Peacock on Sept. 5.

It’s been a busy year for Hart, who appeared on The Masked Singer and The Roast Of Tom Brady this year. In terms of movies, he played Roland in Borderlands and Cyrus Whittaker in Lift. Jackson provided voiceover work for the Vic character in The Garfield Movie, played Dan Lawson in Damaged, and Alfred Solomon in Argylle.

Peacock will precede Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist with the third season of Bel-Air which will premiere on Aug. 15 with three new episodes. The teaser trailer shows Will, played by Jabari Banks, and Carlton, played by Olly Sholotan, in a car preparing for a street race. That is just a small portion of what the entire cast will go through during the new season.

Carla Banks Waddles, the series’ showrunner, said the new season will “explore questions like, how do you prove yourself in a world that views you in limited ways? How do you reach beyond your comfort zone to create new opportunities for yourself? How does a family rebuild broken trust?”

Morgan Cooper, the series creator, said the new season will add “a little more kick to it […] The colors are more vibrant, the sound is elevated, the cinematography is more immersive. The vibe really sets the tone for Will’s first Bel-Air summer: Three months to shine, explore, and make moves under the LA sun.”
