Pink at PNC Park: What to know before you go

Aug. 3—What will Pink bring to her Saturday concert at PNC Park?

If it's anything like other stops on her Summer Carnival Tour, the crowd can expect acrobatics, gymnastics, dancing, dazzling costumes, motorized flamingos, confetti, fireworks and smoke cannons.

And that's in addition to her music — a high-energy mix of pop, country and rock.

Before the show starts, though, there are logistics for attendees to handle.

Here are five things to know before you go:

Tickets

According to Ticketmaster, seats are still available in most sections of the Pittsburgh ballpark, starting at $139.

If you're a high roller and would like to reserve a suite for the show, you can email premiumsales@pirates.com.

Getting there

There should be plenty of space available in the Alco Parking Corp. lots throughout the North Shore, according to general manager Ralph Reetz.

As opposed to the multitudes that came to see Taylor Swift, he said, "for Pink, it didn't translate into a lot of (parking) pre-sales."

"Think of the Pink concert like a large Pirates game, instead of a large Steelers game," he said. "Instead of 70,000 people, you're looking at 35,000."

The lots will open four hours prior to the 6:30 p.m. concert time. Credit card users will get a discount, paying $40 for the evening versus $45 in cash.

Lot locations, prepayment, tailgating policy and more information are available at alcoparking.com.

Parking downtown is another option, if you're up for a quick hike to the stadium. Those locations and rates also can be found on the Alco website.

Plenty of space should be available there, as there are no major events that night in the Cultural District.

Save some shoe leather by taking a free ride on the light rail "T" from Downtown to the North Shore. Take the blue, red or silver line from the Wood Street Station to the North Side stop.

The "T" schedule is listed on the Pittsburgh Regional Transit website.

If you take the train from farther away, PRT has requested two-car trains starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, according to director of public relations Adam Brandolph.

"For expediency, some of these trips will start at First Avenue Station and run to Allegheny Station," he said. "After the concert, roughly 11:15 p.m., rail service will run until the platforms are clear."

Regular rail service ends at 1 a.m. on Saturdays. Any service beyond what is regularly scheduled depends on having employees available, he noted.

However you travel, Brandolph has a good word of advice: "We recommend (that) riders attending the concert plan ahead and leave early," he said.

Setting sail

For a more scenic experience, the Gateway Clipper Fleet is offering a Pink Shuttle from its Station Square docks to the North Shore.

The shuttles will start running at 3 p.m. and continue until one hour post-concert.

Custom "Pink" cocktails will be available for purchase both at the dock and on the boat.

A one-way ticket is $8 and round-trip is $15, available only at the dock on Saturday.

"Parking at the dock is relatively painless," said Gateway Clipper owner and president Terry Wirginis. "It's easy to get in and out and reasonably priced."

Information on parking locations and rates can be found at gatewayclipper.com.

What to take

Concert-goers will need to walk through a metal detector to enter PNC Park. They do not need to remove items such as mobile phones, wallets or keys before passing through.

Each person entering PNC Park may have one bag (such as a purse, fanny pack or backpack), which must be soft-sided and measure no larger than 16-by-16-by-8 inches. Larger bags will not be permitted inside the ballpark.

All bags are subject to search.

Bags carried for medical reasons are allowed, also subject to search by park security.

Guest conduct policy, restroom locations and other information is available at mlb.com/pirates.

The main thing

Pink's Summer Carnival Tour supports her ninth album, "Trustfall," released Feb. 17.

Born Alecia Beth Moore in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pink will be the first female artist to headline at PNC Park.

Supporting acts are Brandi Carlile, Grouplove and kidcutup.

The average set list for the tour so far starts with "Get the Party Started," "Raise Your Glass" and "Who Knew."

The title track from "Trustfall" comes late in the show, at number 20.

The usual encores are "So What," followed — appropriately — by "Last Call."
