A new era of PJ Harvey has begun. In July, she shared I Inside the Old Year Dying, her first album in seven years, and last week, she returned with her first live performance since 2017. Now, Harvey has hinted that she’s looking at touring North America in Fall 2024.

News of the North American dates arrives via a new interview with Vulture, in which Harvey discussed her ongoing European tour, and shined a light on what’s ahead for her. “It’ll be a look at all of my material over the years, but with a concentration on the latest album,” she said of the tour, speaking ahead of the opening performance this past weekend in Dublin.

Continuing, Harvey explained that, while the focus is on I Inside, the breadth of her discography will be celebrated at the upcoming gigs. “I think it’ll be a really comprehensive show for all ages of PJ Harvey fans,” she said. “It’s been a great joy, actually, to play some of those earlier songs. I haven’t played many of them live for years. So, I think it’s gonna be a special show for that reason as well.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Harvey explained that she approaches her performances differently than she did when she was younger. “2017 was my last tour and now I’m at that age where your body changes, and it has different needs, and it can cope with different things in greater or lesser degrees,” she said. “So, I’m looking after myself now as a 53-year-old, and that will change the show.”

But don’t think that an older Harvey means that she’s delivering less compelling performances. In fact, she reports that her voice is “actually better than it’s ever been,” which she’s enjoying. “I think that is one of the lovely things about getting older as a singer, your voice discovers new depths and greater soulfulness because as we get to know ourselves better,” she said. “We get more comfortable and accepting of ourselves. The voice is an instrument that you carry with you inside and it’s affected by emotion.”

Other than the 2024 North American tour, Harvey revealed that she’s also planning on opening an art exhibition sometime next year or the year after. “It’s pretty much going to show everything I’ve ever drawn,” she said. “I actually find that quite lovely.”
