Looks like Princess Diana’s nieces inherited the same fashion maven gene as Di herself. Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer showed off their fashion skills while visiting the annual Chelsea Flower Show, sporting two very different looks, each just as chic as the other. And you can bet this fashion editor noticed a simple styling trick employed by both women that really made their ‘fits shine.

The Chelsea Flower Show, an annual garden event which presents innovative garden design and fabulous floral displays, is a favorite of the British royal family, with both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Kate Middleton making frequent appearances in years past. For the 2024 event, Charles Spencer’s (Princess Diana’s brother) 31-year-old twin daughters both opted both opted for blue midi dresses by the Canadian-British designer Edeline Lee.

Both sisters also employed a favorite stand-by styling trick of mine: balancing simple details with more intricate ones. For Amelia this meant pairing her colorful dress with neutral-hued accessories, while Eliza had more fun with pops of color to complement her subdued navy frock.

The recently married Lady Amelia Spencer chose a colorblocked frock (£1,200) with flounced sleeves and a matching flouncy hem giving it fabulously fun movement as she strolled through the exhibition. As for accessories, Spencer and her sister are ambassadors for the jewelry brand Boodles. Amelia chose to pair her bold dress with classic diamond huggies, a diamond collar necklace and matching cuff bracelet from the brand’s new Perspective collection, a sleek white mini handbag from Jimmy Choo (was $895, now $591) and strappy silver sandals by Gina ($1,008).

Lady Eliza Spencer took an opposite approach, instead choosing a monochrome navy wrap dress (£1,015) with short kimono-inspired sleeves and an asymmetrical hem. She too sported Boodles jewelry, but instead of classic diamonds, she went with the more colorful Play of Light set, inspired by impressionist paintings. For her handbag, Eliza carried a boxy quilted Chanel bag in seafoam green.

Both women looked fabulously posh, and there’s no doubt I’ll be adding both looks to my summer style inspo board along their Aunt Diana.
