The Royal Family Is Concerned That Prince Harry Is Drifting Away

When they married in May 2018, the world seemed to fall in love with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex. Their engagement announcement was so pure, with the two giggling, holding hands, and seemingly the first royal couple to show so much PDA.

They gained fans from all over the world, not least because Meghan is black, American, and an actress. People were thrilled that finally, some diversity was entering into the Windsor family, and it seemed like change was on the horizon.

However, that seems like a century ago now, when looking at the controversy that has followed this couple since then.

They've Caused Quite A Stir This Year

This royal couple has faced a tough year, facing backlash at every turn. Their use of private jets this summer caused major waves, and they were criticized for being hypocritical and out of touch. Over the summer they took a vacation to France, borrowing Elton John's private jet (as you do.)

While many members of the royal family do take private jets ("Air Miles Andy" for example) they've been outspoken supporters of environmental issues. It was even reported that Prince Harry gave a passionate speech at the Google climate change summit in Italy while barefoot. But, not before he got a pedicure first.

He addressed the criticism while visiting Amsterdam to launch a new travel initiative, saying, "I came here by commercial. I spend 99% of my life traveling the world by commercial. Occasionally there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure my family is safe, and it’s genuinely as simple as that.”

His attitude didn't go down well with people, and many felt it sounded petulant and dismissive. As it is with many in the royal family, it was a "do as I say, not as I do," statement.

Fighting With Prince William

Prince Harry and Prince William have always seemed to come as a pair, with the two being incredibly close and supportive of one another after the death of their mother, and being in the spotlight for their entire lives. They obviously have a close bond that most people assumed could never be broken.

However, he entered his marriage to Meghan Markle and things went south pretty quickly. It all reportedly started around the time of the wedding, with Prince William expressing his concerns about Meghan, and the fact that Harry was marrying her so quickly.

Of course, this didn't go down well with the flame-haired prince who is known for a fiery temper.

The Royal Couple Will Not Attend Sandringham For Christmas

Reportedly, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have told the Queen they will not attend Christmas at Sandringham this year with the rest of the royal family, choosing to possibly stay in Windsor or even with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland in the U.S., since they will already be there for Thanksgiving.

The Queen, Prince Charles, and most likely other members of the family are worried about how much Prince Harry has drifted away since meeting Meghan, not seeming like himself at times.

In her biography Harry: Conversations with the Prince, Angela Levin writes, "On many occasions, he has also seemed to be a shadow of himself: miserable, tense, sulky and even emasculated. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why, but perhaps all the changes Meghan has encouraged him to adopt have temporarily made him no longer feel quite himself. "

She also wrote, "He is emotionally vulnerable and has no wish to contradict a charismatic and extremely determined wife. I have been told from an insider that both the Queen and Prince Charles are very worried about him."

Let's hope we see a Christmas miracle this year, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can patch things up with the family.
