‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Untucked’ season 6 episode 5 recap: ‘Property Queens’

“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” continued its 9th season on Friday, June 7 with the fifth episode featuring returning queens from seasons past. In the sister series “Untucked,” now in its 6th “All Stars” season, the queens throw back a cocktail and dish the dirt backstage on the latest challenge. This week the queens competed in “Property Queens,” working in pairs to sell unique properties in real estate spoof commercials. Prior to RuPaul Charles announcing the official top two performers of the week next to earn the coveted Beautiful Benefactress Badges, the queens gathered backstage to discuss the week and their chances at winning.

Most of the girls were proud of their performances this week and felt hopeful that they’d be among the winners. Shannel was especially appreciative of Nina West for their partnership because everyone understood that comedy and writing was one of Nina’s strong suits. Still, Nina acknowledged that based on the judges’ reactions the big winner of the week had to be Plastique Tiara because she was the most surprising performer. Roxxxy Andrews gave Plastique a lot of props for being so involved in their creative process and for coming up with a lot of the ideas that ended up being their funniest moments. Following the thread of her emotional moment on stage, Jorgeous apologized to Gottmik for letting her down and admitting to everyone else that they’re smarter than her and it’s hard for her to be “more than just sickening.” Her sisters rallied around Jorgeous and pointed out that her ability to move her body the way she does is a talent that none of them have like she does and that’s what makes her special.

Naturally, the topic of Roxxxy cutting off Angeria Paris VanMichaels last week came up again and talk about who the next winner would cut off. Nina said that at this point they have to base it on badges because that’s the name of the game, but Roxxxy and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo both said that they’d be stuck and not know who they could choose. In the conversation, Roxxxy mistakenly numbered Gottmik’s badge total at three which Gottmik immediately corrected and warned against needlessly setting her up as the frontrunner.

Guest judge Alec Mapa joined the queens later and made a point of addressing Jorgeous directly to offer more support in her emotional moment. He got spiritual with the girls and how the “feminine energy” that they inhabit in drag is in touch with the universe as a way of combating the “masculine energy” that the straight white men of the world rule society with. After Alec was pulled back to the Main Stage, the queens had some fun with the pink furry box and a game of Ru girls charades and then later prepared for the lip sync by changing outfits. In the end, Roxxxy won the lip sync over Plastique and then dramatically chose to cut off Gottmik with the Ruby Snippers. Gottmik wasn’t surprised, but was bothered by the way Roxxxy made such a big deal over the position she was put in and the decision she made.
