Scene 2 Seen Podcast: Johnnie Ingram & Stephen Warren Discuss ‘We’re Here’ And Why They Continue The Fight For Human Rights

Hello, and welcome to the Scene 2 Seen Podcast! Today, I’m chatting with Johnnie Ingram and Stephen Warren.

The duo have won an Emmy, Peabody Award, Television Academy Honor and three GLAAD Awards as creators and executive producers of the HBO docuseries We’re Here, whose fourth season premiered April 26.

Season 4 follows renowned drag queens Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall and Latrice Royale as they continue the show’s mission of spreading love and connection through the art of drag across small-town America. This season, the queens work with participants in Murfreesboro, TN, and Tulsa, OK, and surrounding towns and take an in-depth, immersive look at recent anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and the effect it has had on the community.

Ingram and Warren also created and executive produced the 2023 queer-inclusive romantic docuseries Swiping America, which follows a diverse group of singles from New York City as they use a dating app to reflect on their personal experiences with sex, relationships, love and connection. The show is streaming on Max.

Warren is an entertainment lawyer and advocate who served as co-chair of GLAAD for five years and was the recipient of GLAAD’s Stephen F Kolzak Award. Ingram is an artist, advocate and creative director who led an award-winning gay blood-donation campaign for GLAAD commissioned by Saatchi that is part of the permanent collection at MOMA in New York City.
