Shannen Doherty accuses ex of prolonging divorce as she battles terminal cancer

Actress Shannen Doherty is claiming her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko is deliberately dragging out their divorce so that he doesn’t have to pay spousal support as she continues battling terminal cancer.

The 53-year-old “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum alleges that Iswarienko has not provided much of the requested financial information, adding the delay is exacerbating her health issues, according to legal documents obtained by People.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” Doherty wrote in the documents.

She also accused Iswarienko of living extravagantly while she struggles financially, with no access to funds, their airplane, or their marital vacation home in Texas.

Doherty is now requesting $15,434 per month in spousal support, due to declining residuals from her acting career and the loss of her SAG health insurance.

Iswarienko’s attorney has refuted Doherty’s claims, arguing that a settlement offer was made in October, which she rejected.

“Kurt is not ‘simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,’” said attorney Katherine Heersema. “He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.”

Doherty has said she declined the proposed settlements because they didn’t address the issues surrounding his photography work created during their marriage nor his earning capacity.

The couple was married for 11 years before Doherty filed for divorce in April 2023. Three years earlier, she revealed she’d been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, which later spread to her brain.

In December, she said she learned just prior to undergoing brain surgery that Iswarienko had been having a two-year affair.
