Bridgerton is one of our favorite shows for many reasons. Amid the beautiful sets, coiffed hair, and eye-catching costumes, the show’s sex scenes are ones we rate highly. They’re steamy, sensitive, and beautifully shot.

The show, based on the bestselling novels by Julia Quinn, has dominated the zeitgeist for three seasons and four years now. Like in the books, each season puts one sibling of the Bridgerton family—Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth— at the center of the story as they search for romantic matches.

Sex before marriage was considered a huge social faux pas during the Regency era, but who said anything about Bridgerton needing to be historically accurate? Without further ado, here are the steamiest Bridgerton sex scenes, timestamped for your pleasure (or, in the event you want to skip them).

Props to the writers, here, because they waste almost no time setting viewers up for what kind of show Bridgerton will be. Less than three minutes into season 1, episode 1, Anthony Bridgerton (Johnathan Bailey) and his opera singer mistress Siena (Sabrina Bartlett) are going at it up against a tree.

Season 2 of Bridgerton has fewer sex scenes than season 1. With Anthony as the focus, it’s a much slower burn, romance-wise. But! We finally get some action in this steamy scene between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and a model from his art class, Tessa (Emily Barber).

Pen! And Colin! FINALLY. After a steamy first kiss in episode 2, Colin admits his true affection for Pen and they join in a beautiful, sensitive, and yes, hot, first sexual encounter in her carriage. It’s probably one of the most talked-about scenes in the entire show because there’s been so much build-up to this moment.

While the carriage scene was a steamy second base (do they still call it that?), Penelope and Colin have actual sex for the first time in episode 5. It’s passionate, sensitive, and just a little wild. “We did break a piece of furniture while doing one of those scenes,” Nicola Coughlan told Entertainment Weekly about the chaise scene.

“I didn’t know what it was gonna be like, but it’s a little bit like a stunt in which they’re like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do this, this, and this. But then they gave us freedom to like, we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do. And that makes you feel quite empowered and you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re gonna do this, this, and this.’ So we felt super. They were actually really enjoyable. I didn’t think they would be. They were great. It was fun.”

In episode 8 of season 3, Benedict Bridgerton has a threesome with Lady Tilley Arnold and Paul Suarez. While the show has hinted at his sexuality in the past, showrunner Jess Brownell told Glamour that in season 3, the writers wanted to make sense of that. “Benedict is figuring out his place in society…and how he can skirt the rules of society while being true to himself,” she said.

Amid false rumors that a sex scene between Pen and Colin was deleted from season 3, actor Martins Imhangbe confirmed a “whole scene” in which Will Mondrich and Alice Mondrich “do it everywhere” was, in fact, cut. “There was a whole scene written where Will and Alice do it everywhere,” Martins told Digital Spy. “Then the kids interrupt. There was all this stuff that happened.”

Martins explained that he didn’t know why the scene was removed, but he hinted that it could resurface in another season. “I think that there’s something [in] the show that might be coming down the line, but it would be good to see a married couple hold that [passionate] space too,” he said.
