"It was just such a shock,” the actress says about the tragic overdose.

TV casts are so close-knit that a tragic loss can hit even harder. Both fans and creators of Euphoriawere shocked at the sudden tragic death of cast member Angus Cloud this summer. In a new interview with Glamour, Sydney Sweeney says that Cloud's absence will feel even more impactful when his former costars return to set next year to film season 3 of the popular HBO series.

“[My costars and I] were constantly on the phone with each other crying, because it was just such a shock,” Sweeney told Glamour about when she first heard the news.

Sweeney continued, “I don’t think it’ll truly feel real or hit me until we’re filming and I won’t see Angus on set."

Cloud died unexpectedly in July, with coroners later revealing that the cause was a drug overdose. At the time, his family said in a statement that Cloud had "intensely struggled" with the recent death of his father, adding that "Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."

Following Cloud's death, Sweeney posted a tribute to him on social media alongside other costars like Zendaya. "Angus you were an open soul, with the kindest heart, and you filled every room with laughter," Sweeney wrote then. "You will be missed more than you know, but I'm so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I'm sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same. This heartache is real and I wish we could've had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you."

Cloud portrayed drug dealer Fezco "Fez" O'Neill on the first two seasons of Euphoria. It was his first screen role, but proved so popular with viewers that Cloud soon appeared in music videos and luxury ad campaigns.

"It’s really interesting when someone passes away in our industry, because they’re still alive in so many forms," Sweeney said.

The actress told Glamour that she was "very excited" about what season 3 of the show will hold for her character Cassie Howard, but didn't discuss further details.
