T.I. Believes Young Thug Will Be Acquitted Of YSL RICO Charges: “He’s Coming Home”

T.I. is of the belief that Young Thug will ultimately be exonerated and aqcuitted of the RICO charges against him, and will be returning to the streets a free man.

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Atlanta rap star spoke on the prospects of Thugger beating his case, which stems from his alleged role in a criminal conspiracy, among other charges. “He’s coming home,” Tip declared, referencing his incarcerated friend and collaborator, who’s been behind bars for two years since his arrest in May 2022.

According to the Grand Hustle leader, the state of Georgia has failed to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Young Thug was an active participant in criminal activity, based on the evidence shown thus far.

“I don’t think that the prosecution has successfully proven a case of him knowingly and willingly participating in an active street gang,” the hitmaker told Charlamagne Tha God. “I just don’t see it.”

T.I. continued to note the shallow amount of evidence againt Thug, particularly that based on witness testimony. “I don’t think that the witnesses they’ve called thus far have proven what they said they would prove,” he added. “I just don’t think that the grounds of their case have been presented properly.”

Young Thug and dozens of other alleged gang members were arrested in May 2022 and charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

The rapper has maintained his innocence and plead not guilty on all charges. Still, despite repeated requests for his release, he has been denied bond several times and has remained in custody since his arrest.

Young Thug’s history with T.I. dates back at least a decade. In 2014, Thugger appeared on Tip’s hit single, “About the Money,” a collaboration that peaked at No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100, landing Thug one of his first mainstream hits of his career. While he never inked a record deal with T.I.’s Grand Hustle label, he’s remained a close affiliate and even appeared on the label’s G.D.O.D. II compilation later that year.
