Taco Bell Cantina coming to downtown Indianapolis

Those who have been waiting to order a Baja Blast margarita in the Indianapolis metro area are in luck.

Taco Bell Cantina has leased over 2,800 square feet of the Lieber Building at 24 W. Washington St. from Two North Meridian Co. said Nick Wright, principal at Newbridge Commercial Real Estate, who represents the landlord.

The Indianapolis Taco Bell Cantina is being franchised by California-based Flynn Restaurant Group, the largest restaurant franchisee in the U.S., according to its website.

The space in the Lieber Building was previously occupied by barbecue restaurant Sugarfire Smokehouse, which closed in 2020, IBJ reported.

Taco Bell Cantinas are a more upscale version of the traditional Taco Bell experience and are often open late, until at least 2 a.m. The Las Vegas Cantina is attached to a wedding chapel.

The Washington Street location will be the first Taco Bell Cantina in Indianapolis, offering a variety of items like Twisted Freezes, or frozen drinks spiked with liquor, as well as beer, wine and sangria, in addition to many Taco Bell favorites.

No opening date was announced, though Wright said the restaurant aiming to be open before the All Star Game in February 2024.
