Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads joins Kyle Meredith to talk about the 40th anniversary of Stop Making SenseThe Jonathan Demme film is set to make its way back to theaters thanks to A24, and its iconic soundtrack recently received the deluxe re-issue treatment.

Harrison chats with Meredith about how the rerelease came about before previewing the band’s first public reunion in years, a live Q&A at the Toronto International Film Festival.

“I think it’s been somewhat of a healing experience for everybody, because it’s like, yeah, we actually can work together and do this,” he explains. “The conflicts that people have spent a lot of time talking about, they still can be looked up. It’s not like the feelings that made people say various things are totally gone or anything like that, but it’s sort of like, they’ve been voiced, do you need to voice things like that over and over again?”

He continues, “Let bygones be bygones, because why waste our time on these petty complaints from the past?”

He also dives into the new Dolby Atmos remix, what he learned from Brian Eno in regards to technology in music, and the rehearsals behind the legendary Stop Making Sense performance. Harrison then touches on why Talking Heads considered themselves one of the best bands in the world and why he stopped producing for other artists, as well as his work on an upcoming Outer Banks spinoff.
