Taylor Swift Releases Rerecorded ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ Album

Taylor Swift has officially entered her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) era.
The Grammy-winning singer dropped her latest rerecorded album Thursday evening, which consists of 21 tracks, including the songs on the original deluxe version of the album as well as five bonus tracks.

To celebrate its release, among a carousel of photos shared on Instagram, Swift wrote, “I was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the rerelease of this album I love so dearly. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the magic you would sprinkle on my life for so long.”
She continued, “This moment is a reflection of the woods we’ve wandered through and all this love between us still glowing in darkest dark. I present to you, with gratitude and wild wonder, my version of 1989. It’s been waiting for you.”
1989 was originally released in 2014 and included hit songs “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Blank Space” and “Style.”
Last month, Swift teamed up with Google to make the reveal of the new vault track titles a game for her fans. Swifties had to solve a word puzzle when they searched “Taylor Swift” on Google. Once the puzzles were solved, the vault tracks on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) were uncovered, including “Is It Over Now?,” “Say Don’t Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk” and “Suburban Legends.” A fifth, previously unnamed song will also be featured on the album, along with a Target-exclusive track.
The “Cruel Summer” singer later shared the complete tracklist on social media, writing, “It’s a new soundtrack Here are the back covers and vault track titles for 1989 (my version). I can’t wait for this one to be out, seriously. Thank you for playing along, sleuthing, puzzling and making these reveals so much chaotic fun (which is the best kind of fun, after all).”
Swift initially announced that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would be her next rerecorded album during the sixth night of her Eras Tour shows at SoFi Stadium in August. The album follows the release of Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) after the singer said in 2019 that she would rerecord her songbook to be able to own her master recordings.
Taylor Swift (2006) and Reputation (2017) are the only albums from her catalog that have yet to get rerecorded versions.
