Many prepare for the Met Gala by focusing on their makeup and wardrobe. For Teyana Taylor, preparation also includes packing lunch.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, Taylor and Jimmy Kimmel, 56, discussed the 32-year-old actress and singer’s three appearances at the Met Gala, and the food she brings along with her.

This past year, Taylor said, “I was being greedy and I brought Chick-fil-A.” The year before that, the singer said she brought Popeyes.

When asked by Kimmel how she manages to bring the food in with her, the Coming 2 America actress said, “So this is what I’m doing now. When I'm collaborating with the designer, I have them design a bag — shout out to Thom Browne because he made sure my bag (this past) year was a big flower so it was enough to fit the food.”

Going into detail about what she brought along with the Chick-fil-A Taylor said, “Some little Sour Straws, Skittles… I had a whole little lunch.”

Bringing outside food, Taylor said, involved some risk. “I did think that I was going to get banned,” the singer said about the gala. “But honestly, Anna Wintour is a real one because I thought I was going to get banned the first year I did it, and then I got invited back and I was like ‘Yeah, Anna! That’s my girl!’.”

The A Thousand and One star continued, “I think [Anna] said, ‘let her sneak her food in in peace.'”

When Kimmel asked if Wintour, 74, knew about her sneaking in food Taylor responded jokingly, “She probably found out now because you’re snitching. You brought this up. I didn't bring this up. So if I don’t get invited back, Jimmy, we gotta have a talk.”

Last year’s Met Gala allowed Taylor and those she shared with to enjoy some Chick-Fil-A and Skittles, but also offered a sweet moment between some of Hollywood’s most iconic women.

During the interview, Kimmel pulled out a photo from the 2023 Gala, which showed Jennifer Lopez fixing Taylor’s dress while Margot Robbie and Billie Eilish watched.

“I had to tinkle and I was stuck in my outfit…I couldn’t get out of the dress,” Taylor explained. Laughing, she continued, “I was struggling in the corner by myself and JLo walked up — it was like everybody inserted themselves — which was so iconic it’s JLo. She was like ‘What's going on?’ and I was like ‘Girl, I can’t get it off,’ and she was trying and I said, ‘No, you gotta do this’ and she said, ‘Bitch I’m trying to help you’ and I was like ‘Oh!’.”

Later on, the actress said, Eilish and Robbie arrived.

“So then Billie walked up and she was like, ‘Hey, T what's happening?’ so then we’re telling her what happened and then Margot walked up and she said something — I don’t know if she said she used to sew or whatever- but whatever it was she seemed like she was an expert at it,” Taylor told Kimmel, before adding, “And then she didn’t even know what to do… we were like the blind leading the blind but it was an iconic moment.”
