Theatre West Virginia navigates the hot summer temps to bring you quality performances

GRANDVIEW, WV (WVNS) – Things are heating up at Theatre West Virginia.

Theatre West Virginia is back with their historical outdoor dramas

Theatre West Virginia is debuting two shows this week at Grandview after only two weeks of practice.

The shows they are debuting for this summer are “Hatfields & McCoys” and “Honey in the Rock”.

However, the heat isn’t letting up for anyone, even the actors that are working hard to put on these outdoor historical dramas.

Theatre West Virginia Artistic Director, Sharon Chadwick told 59News how their cast and crew are navigating the heat to bring you quality performances.

“We hydrate a lot. We fill up coolers all day long for people. We are in the shade whenever we possibly can be. We encourage actors to go back and get into a place that is cool. We usually break at the hottest part of the afternoon so folks can get away and get some rest in a cool space.”

The actors are normally given a break from around 2 p.m. until 5 pm. each day.

Chadwick also explained to 59News that they also hold rehearsals indoors for the weeks leading up to each show’s debut to do more in-depth practices in more comfortable conditions.

You can catch opening night for “Hatfields & McCoys” on June 19. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Greenbrier Valley Theatre will perform final “Some Enchanted Evening” shows this week

Theatre WV is also adding their third show of the summer, “Footloose,” on July 11.
