A bakery has supplied Taylor Swift concerts with thousands of specially made doughnuts inspired by the global megastar.

Planet Doughnut in Shrewsbury created the Tay-sty treats for fans at Wembley Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The firm made three new doughnuts for the occasion - two inspired by albums Midnights and Lover, and a third based on the poster for The Eras Tour film.

Managing director Rob Jones told BBC Radio Shropshire they had pitched the doughnuts to the venue a few months ago.

“They really loved them and thankfully they’ve taken them for the next few nights,” he added.

Replicating colour schemes used on the albums, the Lover doughnut is adorned with pink and white icing, while the Midnights version is of a blue and white design with gold, edible glitter.

The third offering based on the colours on The Eras Tour film poster is topped with pink, orange and white icing.

The design process was led by head of marketing Alice Turnbull, who Mr Jones described as a “self-diagnosed Taylor Swift addict”.

Asked if they had managed to get any doughnuts to the star herself, Ms Turnbull said: “Well I’ve been tagging her in all the socials so hopefully she sees them and loves them.”

Ms Turnbull said she would be going to see her perform for the third time in August, adding that she had previously won a guitar signed by the singer at an auction.

Mr Jones said the bakery had also made tens of thousands of doughnuts for Beyonce’s concerns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year.

“It’s nice to be following that up this year with Taylor Swift,” he added.
