Here Are the Top U.S. Destinations Most Likely to Have a White Christmas, According to Travel Experts

There has been a 224% increase in Google searches for "white Christmas" in the last month, according to research from rental car company SIXT

If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, travel experts have singled out where you should spend the holidays this year.

According to research done by the rental car company SIXT, Fairbanks, Alaska, has a 100% chance of seeing snow this Christmas, while Duluth, Minnesota, follows behind with a 92.2% chance and Bozeman, Montana, with 91.1%.

After that, other spots across the United States that may transform into a wintry wonderland in a few weeks include Marquette, Michigan (88.2%), Caribou, Maine (87.2%), Idaho Falls, Idaho (80.1%), Fargo, North Dakota (77.6%), Eau Claire, Wisconsin (72.3%) and Burlington, Vermont (62.3%).

Montrose, Colorado, is also on the list, but only with a 45% chance of seeing snow this holiday season.

According to SIXT, the company analyzed National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration data on U.S. climate normals to get their findings.

The group also said that there has been a 224% increase in Google searches for "white Christmas" throughout the nation in the last month, according to their own research.

"Whether you're curling up by a fire with a cup of hot chocolate, sledding or building a snowman outdoors, a white Christmas adds a special touch for those visiting a new destination," Kelly Johnson, SVP of Marketing in North America, says in a statement.

She adds, "Being able to wake up to a snowy landscape on December 25 and enjoy the cozy rituals of the holiday season [is the best]."
