About Town: Stormhouse Brewing's 'The Big One: One-Year Anniversary Fest'
Whether or not Benjamin Franklin actually said the words, “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy,” it's a statement that most beer lovers regard as fact.
On May 22, Stormhouse Brewing in North Palm Beach is ready to spread some of that love when it hosts "The Big One: One-Year Anniversary Fest."
In fact, they're not spreading "some" love — they're spreading a whole lot of it and have invited more than 25 other South Florida breweries to take part in the event.
Running from noon to 5 p.m., this beer-lovers' dream will feature selections from Twisted Trunk Brewery, Tequesta Brewing Company, Steam Horse Brewing, Dixie Grill & Brewery, Wynwood Brewing, Orchestrated Minds Brewing, Broski Ciderworks, Big Storm Brewing, Hop Life Brewing, Ocean Republic Brewing, Kelsey City Brewing Company, Royal Palm Brewing Company, South Beach Brewing Company, 26 Degree Brewing Company, LaBelle Brewing Company, Coastal Karma Brewing, NOBO Brewing Company, Grand Central Brewhouse, Carib Brewery, Black Flamingo Brewing Company, Bay 13 Brewery, Accomplice Ciderworks, Prison Pals Brewing Company, Motorworks Brewing, American Icon Brewery, Sesh Brewery and Side Door Brewing Company.
For the price of a $40 ticket, attendees will receive a Stormhouse sample glass and can try selections from as many brewers as they like.
VIP ticket holders will get to start sampling at noon instead of 1 p.m.. They also will receive a custom Stormhouse sample glass, a special gift from the Stormhouse team, and an exclusive tour of the brewery that includes a beer sample straight from the tank with Stormhouse master brewer Christian Brinzo.
Brinzo, who studied brewing in Chicago and Munich and is a certified WBA Master Brewer, said they normally have around 14 beers on tap at a time. Of those, eight are core beers that are available pretty much at all times; the other six are either seasonal or experimental. For this party, however, Brinzo said they will have 19 beers on tap for those attending.
Though beer is the main attraction, there will be other specials and activities for guests to enjoy.
The culinary team at Stormhouse Brewing is setting a special menu for the event, featuring a large pretzel for $11, portobello fingers for $15, 10 Buffalo wings for $15, boneless wings also for $15, the House Burger for $12, the Southern Tide Chicken Sandwich for $14, bratwurst on a hoagie for $15, pierogies for $12, and much more.
What's good beer and food without good tunes? Stormhouse's fest has that covered too with music provided by Pam & Dave and Girlfriend Material.
The duo Pam & Dave have hundreds of songs in their repertoire, from Top 40 pop and rock to Motown, disco and island sounds.
Girlfriend Material, once described as "the most anticipated supergroup since the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles teamed up with the Power Rangers From Space, only featuring more Canadians with electric guitars," will bring a good-time sound and attitude to the party.
Designated drivers and children 12 or younger may enter the event for free.
