On Tucker Carlson Tonight Tuesday, Carlson put an abrupt end to an interview with a former New York City deputy sheriff and corrections officer, Ed Gavin, who disagreed with him on the outcome of the murder trial of Derek Chauvin. Hours earlier, Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, was found guilty on all counts for the murder of George Floyd last May. Carlson opened the show claiming that the jury only voted to convict Chauvin because they were scared, and later questioned if we can “trust the way this decision was made.” This came just a day after Carlson accused the media of “lynching” Chauvin. Gavin, on the other hand, couldn’t have seen things more differently.

“That was clearly an excessive, unjustified use of force. I think the verdict was just,” Gavin said. “I think we had documentary evidence, we had testimonial evidence, and it was an open and shut case. But moving forward, what we need to do, in my opinion, is we need to have…” “How about enforce the law? Do we need to do that?” Carlson interrupted before proceeding to trash the police. “Let's say people are going through the windows of Macy's and the cops are just standing there. Do they resign because obviously their honor is being violated, but they are not doing anything about it, when do they start doing something about protecting everyone else, not just George Floyd?”

Carlson would once again interrupt later in the interview as Gavin attempted to elaborate on his thoughts, but this time, Gavin wouldn’t get another chance. As Carlson finished what he had to say after interrupting, Gavin tried to finish what he was saying but the camera cut away and Carlson said, “Nope. Done.”

ED GAVIN: I think the verdict was just. I think we had documentary evidence. We had testimonial evidence. And, you know, it was an open and shut case. But moving forward, what we need to do, in my opinion, is we need to have--

TUCKER CARLSON: How about enforce the law? Do we need to do that? So wait, hold on. So wait. Slow down.

- Things didn't quite go as planned Tuesday when former New York City Deputy Sheriff Ed Gavin appeared on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd last May. Gavin praised the verdict. Carlson, however, opened the show by claiming that the jury only voted to convict Chauvin because they were scared. And after cutting Gavin off, Carlson proceeded to trash the police.

- Let's say people are going through the windows of Macy's and the cops are just standing there, do they resign because, obviously, their honor is being violated. But they're not doing anything about it. When do they start doing something about it and protecting everyone else, not just George Floyd?

- Earlier in the interview, Gavin had referred to Chauvin's treatment of Floyd as pure savagery, and once again, tried to share his thoughts on the matter but could only get so far.

- Mr. Floyd was brought under control. What should have happened at that point is EMS should have been summoned, and he should have been placed in an ambulance. And a supervisor should have been called to the scene. I just think that it was excessive and--

- Yeah, well?

- And Carlson, who, on Monday, accused the media of lynching Derek Chauvin put an abrupt end to the interview.

- The guy who did it looks like he's going to spend the rest of his life in prison. So I'm kind of more worried about the rest of the country, which thanks to police and action, in case you haven't noticed, has like boarded up. [LAUGHS] So that's more my concern. But I appreciate you coming on, Ed Gavin. Thank you. Nope, done.
