“The View” gets tense as Ana Navarro talks down to Alyssa Farah Griffin: 'You're not understanding'

Navarro appeared to grow frustrated with Griffin, who asked her cohost a few times to clarify a point about political mailers.

The ongoing saga of light shade shared between The View cohosts Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin continued Friday, after Navarro appeared to get frustrated with her colleague during a Hot Topics discussion about political mailers in Florida.

Near the end of legal expert Sunny Hostin's observation that Republican political tactics involved allegedly "pitting Black and brown people against each other," Griffin asked for examples as to how members of her party engaged in behavior to divide potential unity among different groups of people.

"I can tell you. For example, I've gotten political ads in my house in Miami with a list of Latinas, saying, why did he appoint Kamala Harris, why didn't he appoint these Latinas? By the way, the list included me, who wasn't born here and can't be Vice President," Navarro replied, though Griffin pushed back, noting that she was unclear on who sent the ads.

Navarro repeated her recollection of the ads, and Joy Behar chimed in to further explain the point to Griffin. "A Black person instead of a Latino," Behar stressed, "to cause that fight with the two groups."

Griffin said something unintelligible under her breath, prompting Navarro to reiterate her point for the third time.

"You're not understanding," Navarro said, to which Griffin shot a slightly annoyed look to the side of the studio set. "I've gotten political ads from Republican candidates in Florida that are negative ads against Democrats. First I've gotten political ads that you don't get here..."

Griffin cut in before Navarro could finish, clarifying that she thought her cohost was "talking about Trump," and summarized the tactic as "identity politics."

"Everything is identity politics in politics," Navarro hit back, while Griffin ended the back-and-forth as she told Navarro she thought "policy matters" were at the core of the ads. "I didn't understand how that was happening," she finished.

The exchange followed other notable exchanges between Navarro and Griffin, including a moment from September where Griffin appeared to roll her eyes while Navarro spoke about attending Beyoncé's Renaissance tour. After a fan called out the incident online, Navarro responded to the message with a shrugging emoji.

One year ago, Navarro and Griffin clashed on air in December while chatting about toxicity in the workplace.

"I can't really get a word in without you attacking me. So, I wouldn't say this is a totally different environment of women supporting each other," Griffin told Navarro at the time, while Navarro responded by telling her fellow panelist, "Oh, I haven't attacked you yet."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
