Ariana Grande and her “changing voice” have been a topic of conversation online for quite some time now.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, compilations of Ariana's voice going from high to low in pitch have gone viral numerous times over the past decade or so, with some people accusing the singer of adopting a “Blaccent” on occasion.

Back in 2013, Ariana defended her changing voice during an interview, where she explained that she switches pitch to keep it “healthy.”

“I've been speaking in a slightly higher placement than I usually speak in because I've been doing a lot of interviews, and I'm trying to keep my voice healthy,” she said.

And earlier this year, Ariana explained that getting the role of Glinda in the upcoming Wicked movie was what partly inspired her latest apparent change in tone.

"I tried to use that to take lessons every single day while I was doing The Voice and get ready for these auditions," she said. “I trained every day… to transform my voice, even — like, my singing voice — everything about me, I had to deconstruct to prove to them I could handle taking on this other person.”

"I had to completely erase pop star Ari, the person they know so well, because it's even harder to believe someone as someone else when you're so branded as one thing,” she added.

Well now, a video of Ariana’s voice completely changing mid-interview has taken the internet by storm.

Last week, when Ariana appeared on Penn Badgley’s Podcrushed podcast, her voice suddenly went from deep in pitch to higher and softer at one point during their conversation. You can hear it for yourself right here:

Amid all the buzz around the viral clip, Ariana actually entered the conversation herself to respond. She wrote in a TikTok comment: "habit (speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health :) 🍵 i intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much singing i’m doing 😭 i’ve always done this BYE."
