Watching TV and movies often requires suspension of disbelief, but glaring errors about the place you live can be pretty hard to ignore.

For example, stories set in New York City often feature dark, gritty alleyways, but the real NYC doesn't actually have that many alleys.

And not everyone in Florida lives right on the water or spends all their time at the beach — a good portion of the state is farmland, a long drive from the shore.

And Orange County, California isn't all glitzy rich people galivanting around multimillion-dollar homes in fabulous outfits.
