Willie Nelson's Team Issues Statement About His Health After Show Cancellation

Willie Nelson's team has provided an update on the musician after his latest live performance was abruptly canceled.

Ahead of the Outlaw Musical Festival stop in Alpharetta, Ga., on Friday, June 21, a message shared to Nelson's social media accounts revealed that the country crooner would not be taking the stage for health reasons.

"We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor's orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days," the statement shared to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) on Friday read.

According to his team, Nelson, 91, is "expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week."

Despite the disappointing news, fans planning to attend this weekend's shows won't have to miss out on Nelson's songs entirely, as Lukas Nelson and the Family Band, along with a few guests, will be performing a "special set to include Willie's classics and other songs" while Nelson recuperates.

The other artists on the tour, including Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and Celisse, are expected to "perform as scheduled," per Friday's statement.

Fans on social media were quick to send out their best wishes for the "On the Road Again" singer, including one Instagram user who wrote, "Rest up Willie, the world still needs you! ❤️."

"Sending all the healing vibes and big love to you Willie! ❤️‍🩹," another comment read.

"Get well soon WIllie ❤️❤️❤️," another account added.

Nelson's illness will cause him to miss out on Friday's show in Georgia, plus at least the next few shows coming up, including stops in Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., and Virginia Beach, Va.

Next week, the Outlaw Music Festival is scheduled for a show in Syracuse, N.Y. on Friday, June 28, though it's unclear if Nelson will be well enough to perform.
