Woody Harrelson Got Into a 'Tumble' En Route to an Interview – and Ted Danson Patched Him Up

"I did go over my handlebars," Harrelson said after colliding with a Tesla while riding his motorcycle

Ted Danson has played a doctor on TV, and now, he’s taken on the role in real life too!

During the Monday, June 17 episode of Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, guests Danson, 76, and fellow Cheers alum Woody Harrelson revealed there was an incident that made them late to the show. Explaining what had occurred moments before, the 62-year-old Now You See Me actor said he got into a motorcycle accident on the way.

"Woody, we started a little bit later than we thought because you had a tumble," Conan O'Brien said.

“I did go over my handlebars,” Harrelson shared. “Embarrassingly, I was passing this Tesla on the left that I felt was moving a little slow, but I didn't realize he was moving slow because he was taking a left.”

Harrelson said he takes his motorcycle around Los Angeles often because it gets him where he needs to be faster than a car. Although, he noted that on this particular day, “it proved not to be so very fast.”

O’Brien, 61, said the podcast team was concerned when they heard Harrelson was in an accident. Danson also said it made him “sad” to think that his Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast cohost could have been seriously injured.

“I always thought that I'd be okay,” Harrelson assured the table. “I just felt like there was some pain involved, I felt the pain, but I never thought I'd be killed or something.”

On the table, Harrelson laid his hand, bandaged up with a thick cloth with a large ice pack resting on top of it, which the comedian poked fun at.

“Your hand is wrapped up like someone in a cartoon,” the host said.

“That's because I wrapped it — I wrapped it and I thought it looked funnier that way,” Danson chimed in, laughing.

“All of your first aid training is helping in a way that will look funny,” O’Brien joked.

The trio thought it was humorous that Danson’s character as an on-screen doctor came back out, but Harrelson added that there was something comforting about having the Good Place alum care for him.

“His confidence, his demeanor, everything about the way he does it, you feel like, ‘Yes, I am in the best hands,’” he said.

Danson replied, “I was choking back tears, but I was efficient.”

O’Brien agreed, saying that Danson would make “an amazing therapist.”

“You have a very calming presence,” he told Danson.

Harrelson also confirmed he was wearing a helmet, which ended up saving him from more severe injuries because he did hit his head during the accident.

“You skinned your hand, man up,” Danson chimed in to lighten the mood, later explaining his sudden mood change: “My sadness didn't play in the room.”

Harrelson and Danson previously co-starred on Cheers, which ran on NBC from 1982 to 1993 for 11 seasons. Now, the pair are co-hosting a new Sirius XM podcast, titled Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson & Woody Harrelson (Sometimes).
