The 2024 Golden Globes has cooked up a winner best musical or comedy series: The Bear!

The FX series, led by Jeremy Allen White, faced off against Barry, Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building, Jury Duty and Ted Lasso.

Although the entire cast took the stage upon being announced as the night's winner, accepting the award on their behalf was Lionel Boyce, who plays the show's bread baker-turned-pastry chef Marcus Brooks.

"First of all, I want to thank [series creator] Chris [Storer] for bringing this incredible show alongside [executive producer] Joanna Calo and all of our great writers," Boyce began. "[Josh] Senior, Tyson [Bidner], Cooper and every single production person in every department for being not only being great at what you do, but also just being people who don't suck."

After giving a special "shout out to everyone" at FX, Hulu and Disney, Boyce expressed his gratitude for real-life restaurant workers. "[I] also just want to say, most importantly, thank you to the entire restaurant community," he said.

"You know, we play these characters for a couple of hours a day for a couple of months out of the year. But this is y'all's reality, the highs and the lows," he added. "So thank you for embracing us while we tell the story."

The Bear follows a Chicago restaurant’s struggle for success. Carmy (White), a classically trained chef and star in the fine dining world, takes over his family's iconic sandwich shop in the wake of his brother's death at the start of the show's first season. In the second season, he's attempting to transform the space into a fine dining establishment.

At last year's Golden Globe Awards, White took home the award for best musical or comedy actor and was up for the same award at this year's ceremony. His costar Ayo Edebiri was in contention for best actress in a television series alongside Abby Elliott and Ebon Moss-Bachrach who were nominated for best supporting actress and actor in a television series in the comedy or musical genre respectively.

The Bear was up against a stacked roster of comedy heavyweights at this year's ceremony, including Abbot Elementary.
