YNW Melly Co-Defendant Arrested On Witness Tampering Charge
YNW Melly’s co-defendant in the 2018 double homicide he’s been charged with has been arrested on witness tampering charges.
YNW Bortlen, the man accused of helping Melly to attempt to cover up the murders of 21-year-old Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and 19-year-old Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas, was apprehended following a raid in Miami, Fla. on Monday (Oct. 2). According to Law & Crime’s Bryson “Boom” Paul, Bortlen, real name Cortlen Henry, was booked into Miami-Dade County on an Out-of-County Warrant on Monday evening at 10:22 PM ET.
Henry had been out of prison since August 2021 after posting bond and was under monitoring as a condition of his release. His trial was scheduled to begin on Oct. 2, but has since been rescheduled by a Florida judge for Jan. 12, 2024.

News of Henry’s arrest comes as YNW Melly awaits a ruling on a motion to dismiss the homicide charges against him due to alleged prosecutorial misconduct. According to the filing, the State is accused of withholding evidence of alleged police misconduct by the lead detective on the case, Mark Moretti.
Melly’s legal team believes that the prosecution failed to disclose that Moretti executed an illegal search warrant during the investigation. Moretti was apparently outside of his jurisdiction during the search and is accused of using excessive force during the search, which involved Melly’s mother, Jamie King.
The motion to dismiss comes months after the rapper’s murder trial for the deaths of Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas ended in a mistrial due to the jury being unable to settle on a verdict. Melly’s second trial for the double homicide is scheduled to begin Oct. 9.
