Cheers were heard ’round the X/Twitter world after Young & Restless’ Eric Braeden was tagged in a horribly offensive post and came roaring to the defense of three daytime co-workers who were being attacked. The strongly-worded response contained one of his alter-egos taglines, which may be one of the reasons “Victor Newman” started trending on the social media platform shortly thereafter. Keep reading to find out what was said…

This story begins with a poster who made racist remarks against an actress on General Hospital, Tabyana Ali, prompting the soaps’ official account to block the offender in response.

When the same poster next attacked several black actors on Young & Restless, the community known as “Soap Twitter” was having none of it, and rightly so. After Yvette Nicole Brown tried unsuccessfully to flag the official Y&R account and get it to issue a block as the General Hospital account did, one quick-thinking user decided to tag Eric Braeden in hopes of bringing attention to the matter.

As X/Twitter users know, Braeden is very active on the platform, particularly in the latter part of the day, which is when he finally laid eyes on the repugnant post targeting Sean Dominic, Christel Khalil, and Bryton James, and their characters Nate, Lily, and Devon.

Braeden, who is known to get fired up over subjects dear to his heart, was absolutely incensed by the vile words in the post and made no bones about it in his response, which contained some strong, choice words, and ended with, “You got that, B*tch?!”

As Young & Restless viewers are well aware, “You got that?!” is one of Victor’s best-known taglines on the daytime staple, recognizable even to those who don’t watch the sudser. The response went viral and ‘Victor Newman’ started trending as users shared it far and wide.
