Planning group getaways can be tricky. First, you gotta agree on the location. Will you spend the week in Spain or on the deck of a cruise ship? If you’re not headed to an all-inclusive resort where amenities are provided, you’ll also need to think ahead so that everyone has a bed and you’re not all fighting for a tiny hotplate to make scrambled eggs in a cute A-frame Airbnb that was only built for two people. And you’re not alone—according to the vacation rental company, 80 percent of its bookings are group trips, which is why it recently launched new features to make group booking a breeze. So let’s make your next trip even easier. I’ve rounded up 19 of the best Airbnbs for large groups in upstate New York. The location is iconic, the properties are gorgeous and there’s room enough for everyone. (Minimum six guests!). I’ve also prioritized group-friendly amenities, like pools, saunas, decks, fire pits, movie rooms, large dining tables, chef’s kitchens...and that’s just the beginning.

1. Green Lake Farmhouse (Catskill)

Airbnb

“This is quite possibly my favorite Airbnb I've ever stayed in. My friends and I rented this home over Halloween weekend a few years ago and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house is sprawling and so unique. The main living area (which includes the kitchen, dining room and living room) is super modern and sleek, with second floor bedrooms, a wonderful master bath and an entertainment room. As you make your way through the attached part of the home, you enter an 1850s farmhouse structure, which has been beautifully updated but maintains a ton of vintage charm, with wood-burning fireplaces throughout and even an antique wood-burning stove. There are a ton of different spaces for the group to spread out in, but the kitchen, dining room and living room are all more than accommodating when it comes to getting everyone together. I also enjoyed the large wraparound deck for sitting outside in the crisp fall air.” - PureWow senior commerce editor Stephanie Maida

2. Casa Luna Country Retreat (Hudson)

Airbnb

“My crew and I loved this industrial-cool hideaway when we rented it out over Memorial Day weekend a few summers ago. Thanks to its large backyard, al fresco picnic table and accompanying pool, it was the perfect spot to make a splash and ring in summer. But even when we weren't spending time outdoors, we made the most of the spacious living room, which comes complete with the coolest mid-century modern fireplace. I personally loved the open floor plan that marries the kitchen and living room, which made for seamless socializing while some of the group cooked dinner, so no one felt left out. Also really appreciated the old school clawfoot tub in the master bathroom and the in-house sauna—so chic!” - PureWow senior commerce editor Stephanie Maida

There’s even a recording studio with a piano, full drum set and multiple guitars that is fully open for guests to play in. It is truly unique and had ample room for a group of 15 adults.” - PureWow fashion editor Abby Hepworth

What to Consider When Booking a Group Airbnb

“In addition to merely counting how many beds a home has, you should consider other areas of the home where your large group will congregate,” advises Maida, who has planned quite a few group trips herself. “For example, is the dining room table large enough to seat everyone for dinner? Is the sofa in the living room able to accommodate everyone for a movie night? Is there a big enough outdoor area that everyone can gather ‘round the fire pit? Larger kitchens with plenty of counter space are also a must if you’re planning on cooking a big meal with your crew.”
