24 Foundation holds epic 24-mile ‘Dam to Dam’ standup paddleboard event to raise funds for cancer support services

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — 24 Foundation launched an epic 24-mile standup paddleboard event called ‘Dam to Dam’ Friday, June 21, on the waters of the Catawba River,

The new event’s goal is to raise funds and awareness for supportive oncology programs and services in the community.

“The demand for cancer support services is greater than ever, and 24 Foundation has raised more than $27 million to date,” 24 Foundation said in a written statement. “This event is a new way to come together for a common goal.”

The Dam to Dam standup paddleboard event started at the Mountain Island Lake Dam and will end at the Lake Wylie Dam, followed by a post-paddle celebration.

The event is fully supported with stocked support boats, multiple rest stops, a catered lunch, and memories to last a lifetime, organizers said.

The entire Dam to Dam event on Friday is an 11-hour journey that is fun and relaxing, but at times will challenge participants mentally and physically, 24 Foundation said.

“Whether you are a cancer survivor, caregiver, or someone who wants to make a difference, you are in for something very unique and special!” organizers said.

So far, the event has raised more than $70,000, surpassing their goal of $60,000. For more information on Dam to Dam and 24 Foundation, please click here.
