25 'Mrs. Maisel' Quotes You Need in Your Life

“I don’t mind being alone. I just do not want to be insignificant.”

The Amazon Studio series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been charming and bringing audiences to their knees since its debut in March 2017. Fans have clamored for all things Maisel ever since, and the return of the series on April 14, 2023, is being celebrated, especially as Season 5 will be the show's last.

The final installment finds our heroine grappling with the fact that she's not as far in her career as she planned to be. Unfortunately for fans who are hoping to see Midge Maisel back onstage playing comedy clubs around the United States, she's instead back at a desk job, writing jokes for The Gordon Ford Show, at the start of Season 5.

Still, there are plenty of reasons to hope that the series will end on a high note, with Midge fully and intentionally stepping into a destiny she deserves.

The show's creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told Today in early 2023 that the conclusion of the series has been planned for some time. "We always knew where we wanted Midge to land," she said. "We had a very specific image in our minds that we got to do, which was lovely and it worked. We had to land it properly so that the fans were satisfied and so that our actors felt good about where their characters ended."

In honor of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's final run, we put together a list of the witty (and profound) one-liners and jokes for which the show is known. But first, let's take a look back at where Season 4 left off—and where Season 5 might go.

What happened in 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' season 4?

Season 4 saw Midge Maisel battling herself more than anyone. At the end of the season, Midge and fellow comedian Lenny Bruce had a conversation about her goals and careers, and Bruce's belief that Midge continues to hold herself back from opportunities that could make her a star. The two spend the night together, and Midge finds a needle and a vial in his hotel room the next day (in real life, Lenny Bruce died from a heroin overdose at age 40).

What will happen in 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' season 5?

Co-creator Daniel Palladino told Today that there will be a few shifts for the show's final season that fans will enjoy. As he said, we'll see "... a lot of stylistic changes and a lot of journey that we take our characters through. So I think they’ll enjoy the ride. It’s a different kind of ride this season."

On top of that, fan-favorite Milo Ventimiglia will return...at least briefly. Palladino added, "Milo’s appearance is a little bit more of an action sequence, which is kind of fun. I would only have done it with Milo, so thank God he was available."

Alex Borstein, who plays Midge's manager, Susie, has also shared that there will be one constant in Season 5: the friendship between Susie and Midge. As she put it, "In each season, one of us leads and one of us follows. I think it’s cool that Susie was the one who spotted Midge in a nightclub and said, ‘I believe in you.’ Then she’s constantly being taught that Midge was seeing a much bigger picture in her head."
