Animal Shelter Highlights the Heartbreaking Reality of People Dumping Rabbits After Easter

They can't survive on their own.

Easter is by far one of the cutest holidays of the year, but that very same cuteness puts lots of animals in danger every April. As much as we all love watching someone fall in love with a pet for the first time, Bunnies, chicks, and ducks who are given as Easter gifts don't always find their Happily Ever Afters.

In fact, animal rescuer @alexabmurray sees the exact opposite. She takes in so many rescue rabbits on Friendly Fields Farm after every Easter, and she made a TikTok video to talk about it.

These poor babies! We're so glad people like Alexa are there to help animals who found themselves in unfortunate situations, but our hearts are breaking for the bunnies who never found their way to a sanctuary.

"No creature deserves to be abandoned. Well done for what you do," offered @minamina_2021. "Keep saving innocent souls who deserve to live in peace and, above all, with love." That's such a beautiful wish to have for these precious animals! No matter what time of year it is, every bunny deserves to be showered with love. They're animals, after all--not toys!

We agree wholeheartedly with @adrianne_1002, who wrote, "I hate the fact that some people think pets are disposable." Exactly! We always encourage being kind when we don't know the whole story, but it's hard to look past Alexa's neighbor gifting their grandson 10 rabbits. That's a lot of bunnies to care for, especially for a child. Luckily, Alexa and Friendly Fields Farms were there to help. She's truly an angel!
