Anne Hathaway Channels Princess Mia In Her #PillowChallenge

The #pillowchallenge is still going strong, and yesterday Anne Hathaway reprised her iconic role as the Princess of Genovia from The Princess Diaries. You could say she gave bedding accessories a more regal touch. Hathaway joined the viral Internet movement where Instagram and TikTok users are fashioning pillows into dresses. (So far, stars such as Halle Berry, Tracee Ellis Ross, and more have done it.)

Nodding to the white ball gown that her character—a clumsy teen who finds out she’s royalty—wore in the movie, when she’s finally introduced as princess, the actor fashioned blue and white pillows into a strapless dress that mimicked her costume’s original silhouette. To take it to the next level, she even added the sunglasses and headphones that she sports on the film’s iconic movie poster. (All she’s missing is the tiara, though it’s not something you’d usually find lying around the house.)

“A Queen is never late; everyone else is simply early,” Hathaway wrote in the image’s caption, quoting Julie Andrews’s (who plays the Queen of Genovia in the movie) famous line from the film. As a final touch, the star stood in front of two paintings featuring blue butterfly wings, making it appear as though she herself had wings. (Nice touch.) Between Berry’s glamorous execution, Ross’s tropical take, and Hathaway’s nod to Hollywood, the next star who attempts it had better come armed with a genius follow-up.
